The short version
We count visits, never visitors. You can read every comic without an account. There are no ads, no tracking cookies, no analytics scripts, nothing that identifies you, and no selling of personal data. The site remembers a few preferences in your own browser. Music players from YouTube and other services load only when you press play.
Who runs this site
Odd Little Nothing is made anonymously by one person (“nobody in particular”), who decides how the data described here is used. For any privacy question or request, use the contact page.
What happens when you visit
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. To deliver pages and protect the site from abuse, Cloudflare processes connection details such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. The site itself does not keep visitor logs, build profiles or run analytics scripts.
What we count
To know what people enjoy, the site keeps a few tallies, and nothing else:
- Reads per comic: when a comic page is opened, that comic’s number for the day goes up by one.
- Share links: short links like
/igor/tt(used in social posts) add one to that link’s count for the day, then take you to the comic. - Country, language and section: when a page is opened, three daily totals go up by one: the country the visit came from (as reported by Cloudflare’s network, country only, never city), the language the page was shown in, and which part of the site it was (for example the blog). These are separate numbers, never joined together or to you.
- 18+ corner: how many times the 18+ gate was shown, how many times someone tapped through, and reads per 18+ comic.
A tally is only a number. We don’t store your IP address, device, browser, cookies or any ID with it, so we can’t tell who you are or link one visit to another. Automated bots and link previews aren’t counted. Cloudflare, our host, also shows the site owner overall traffic totals (for example visits per country) without anything added to the pages.
What stays in your browser
These are stored only on your device, never sent to anyone for tracking, and you can clear them at any time by clearing this site’s data:
- 配色主题 (Light, Dark or Match device), in local storage.
- Comics you’ve seen, so new ones can be marked “new to you”, in local storage. This list never leaves your browser.
- 语言, in a small cookie named
oln-lang, set only when you choose a language from the menu and kept for a year. - 18+ confirmation, in a small cookie named
oln-18, set only when you tap “I’m 18 or older” and kept for 30 days. It holds nothing but “yes”.
These are strictly for features you use, so no consent banner is needed.
Sparks you send
If you use the “Leave a little spark” box, the words you type and the time are saved in a private inbox that only the site owner reviews. Your name, email and IP address are not stored with them. Please don’t include personal information. Accepted words may inspire a future comic, which may involve the AI tools described below.
Music players from other services
Comic pages show a YouTube player, and Listen cards on the Inspiration page can play songs from SoundCloud, Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Deezer, Mixcloud, Audiomack or YouTube. Nothing from those services loads until you press play. Once you do, that service’s player loads and its own privacy policy applies, for example Google’s Privacy Policy and YouTube’s Terms of Service. Cover images are served by this site, not by those services. Bandcamp and other links simply open the other site.
18+ 漫画
Some comics are for adults only. They are kept out of the all-ages site and out of search engines. To read them you confirm you are 18 or older with one tap; that choice is remembered on your device only (see the oln-18 cookie above). If the site is set to members only, signed-in members confirm instead, and we store the date they confirmed with their membership. The confirmation is self-declared; we don’t ask for ID.
Free sign-up
If you sign up, we keep your email address and your role (member) so you can sign in with a one-time code and send comic ideas for review. Nothing else is attached to it, and you can ask us to delete it through the privacy contact above.
Emails we send
If the owner invites you to help in the studio, we send you one invite email from hello@oddlittlenothing.com, sent through Cloudflare, our host. Emails from the site contain no tracking pixels and no tracked links.
Payments
Nothing is sold on the site today, and no payment details are collected. If paid membership is added, payments will be handled by a payment provider acting as the seller of record, which will process card details and taxes such as VAT. This page will be updated before that starts.
People who help run the site
The private studio is only for the owner and invited helpers. Signing in uses Cloudflare Access with an email one-time code and a sign-in cookie. The studio keeps each helper’s email, role and a log of the changes they make (never the content of what they typed).
Creative material and AI
The owner’s ideas, drafts and reference images stay private until the owner approves a comic. When the owner asks for new artwork, the chosen ideas, character descriptions, music notes and reference images are sent to OpenAI to make it. If the owner connects Claude, Anthropic can receive private studio text and music details through the tools the owner authorizes; this access expires and can be revoked. Reader sparks are only sent to AI after the owner accepts them. Audio is never analyzed.
The owner’s YouTube connection
With the owner’s authorization, the studio uses YouTube API Services to read the owner’s channel and playlists, search videos, and add chosen videos to the owner’s own playlists. Tokens are encrypted in private storage and never shown to visitors. Song titles, artists and links chosen for a comic become public when that comic is published. Disconnecting in the studio deletes the stored connection and asks Google to revoke it; access can also be removed in Google account connections. Use of this data follows the Google API Services User Data Policy.
International transfers
The service providers above (Cloudflare, Google, OpenAI and Anthropic) are based in the United States and operate worldwide, so data may be processed outside your country. They provide safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
How long things are kept
Sparks stay until the owner removes them. Studio helpers’ accounts and change logs stay while they help and are deleted on request. Browser preferences stay until you clear them. Cloudflare keeps its own short-lived operational logs.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including the EU, UK, California and Brazil, you can ask to see, correct, delete or export personal data about you, object to or restrict its use, and withdraw consent. Because the site collects so little, there is usually nothing tied to you; if you sent a spark and want it removed, describe it and it will be deleted. To make a request, use the contact page. You won’t be treated differently for using these rights. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
The site does not sell or share personal information for advertising, as defined by California law, and does not use it for automated decisions about you.
Children
The comics are for a general audience. The site does not knowingly collect personal data from children; if you believe a child sent personal information in a spark, ask and it will be deleted.
Changes
If this notice changes, the date at the top changes too. Significant changes will be noted on the site.
